Skincare In a Flash…….CoQ10

A post to provide you information in a quickly absorbed manner. Kind of like flashcards for skincare.

CoQ10…. looks like what a website gives you as a temporary password, right?

I could do a whole article on CoQ10 ….. which I probably will come to think of it. But for now here are some of the important details:

  • CoQ10’s formal name is Coenzyme-Q10.
  • It’s an antioxidant found throughout the body.
  • It can help neutralize free radicals that age your body.
  • CoQ10’s levels drop with age…mmm, yes even you Miss I’m Out Celebrating My Dirty 30.
  • When CoQ10 is used as an ingredient in a skincare product- it can help reduce the appearance and depth of wrinkles!

Check out CoQ10 in Apriori’s Precision Skin Rejuvenator (PSR) …. a super concentrated serum with all the good stuff!

Skincare in a Flash…… Age Spots

A post to provide you information in a quickly absorbed manner. Kind of like flashcards for skincare.

Age spots or Liver Spots… what are they?

  • Age spots are typically flat in nature and can be grey, brown or black. (They’re made up of melanin which is the pigment that makes skin appear darker).
  • They often appear on a person’s arms, hands, face and shoulders (where we get the most exposure to the sun).
  • Size wise they can range from a freckle to a half inch in diameter. Sometimes they like to hang out in groups so they appear much larger in size.

How are they caused?

  • Primarily from  sun exposure but  tanning beds can contribute to their development as well (So at some point the cast of Jersey Shore will probably be adding Age Spot Treatment to their Gym, Tan, Laundry regiment).
  • Hereditary factors ( your genetic makeup may contribute to how susceptible you are to the development of age spots).
  • Age…. with the passage of time your body can start producing more melanin from all the sun exposure it has had.

Skincare In A Flash…… Face Serums

A post to provide you information in a quickly absorbed manner. Kind of like flashcards for skincare.

So what’s a face serum?

  • A serum is a liquid that is often intended to target a specific skincare problem (ie. wrinkles, age spots, acne) or can be used to help improve the skin’s overall appearance.
  • Serums are formulated differently than moisturizers in that they are able (or should be able) to penetrate all 3 layers of the skin. This is due to the nature of the formulations which contain smaller molecules than typical moisturizers.
  • Serums are typically packed with a higher concentration of nutrients, vitamins or active ingredients intended to target specific problems (like those wrinkles, age spots, and acne).

Serums can be a great addition to your skincare regiment but make sure to ask your trusted skincare professional on how to maximize their benefits before adding them into the mix.

Skincare In a Flash…… Benzoyl Peroxide

A post to provide you information in a quickly absorbed manner. Kind of like flashcards for skincare.

Benzoyl Peroxide

  • An organic compound in the peroxide family ( incase you wanted to know exactly what it is!)
  • In regards to skincare, it’s used to treat mild to moderate acne
  • Comes in various forms including; gels, creams, lotions or in bar form.
  • Keep it away from your hair and colored fabrics unless you’re going for the bleach blond look or the acid wash effect… it can bleach colors it comes into contact with.

If you’re thinking of using Benzoyl Peroxide in your skincare regiment talk to your doctor or dermatologist to discuss any possible interactions BP may have with any current medications you’re on.  Seek out info from a licensed skincare professional (ie. Esthetician) to learn how best to include Benzoyl Peroxide in your skincare regiment.

Skincare in a Flash….. Exfoliation

A post to provide you information in a quickly absorbed manner. Kind of like flashcards for skincare.

Exfoliation

  • Exfoliation is the process of using mechanical or chemical means to promote skin cell shedding from the outer most layer of the skin.
  • Mechanical exfoliation: physically removing dead skin cells with an abrasive such as salt, sugar, crushed nut shells,  a loofah or a pumice stone
  • Chemical exfoliation: chemical exfoliants, such as an acid or an enzyme, which dissolve or loosen the bonds that hold dead skin cells to the surface.
