Pucker Up…. It’s Winter Time Lip Care…..

Winter has finally arrived here in New England and we have been having some frigid temperatures the past week or so. I went to my weekly 5:30 AM workout class a few days ago and it was 15 degrees when I started my car. *Ick*  (I actually  thought about how many extra calories I burned by shivering for 10 minutes as the car warmed up!). Fast forward a few more cold days with some wind added into the mix and my lips are suffering!

What prompted this post was that my lips actually started to hurt when I ate my dinner tonight and I realized it was time to do some research!

After looking at a couple of different sources…I realized:  I hadn’t put moisturizer on my lips in almost 4 days because I lost my favorite lip balm in my bathroom. My water consumption has been noticeably reduced since last week (no good for several reasons!)  and while at the same time I’ve been upping my game when it comes to salty and spicy foods.

So here are 4 quick tips for protecting your lovely lips during the colder weather months.

1) Go out and get yourself some lip balms and stick them in every jacket pocket, your purse and the car. Make it a priority to be using them multiple times a day. I have one from Kiss My Face that has SPF 15 (winning!) and has ingredients I know are safe! Do not go days without using your lip balm. #DoAsISay #NotAsIveDone

2) Get your water bottle(s) out and drink up! It’s good for your lips AND good for your skin because you’re much better hydrated. I have an app on my phone where I can track how much water I drink in a day and it can be very helpful to see how much I’ve consumed (or have not consumed).

3) I use my Apriori Eye + Lip Eraser every day and night but after having freezing temperatures and super windy days… I’ll be bringing out the coconut oil as a nightly treatment. I keep a jar in my bathroom ( I use it to remove excess eye makeup) and at the end of my face washing and teeth brushing… I’ll apply some of the oil all over my lips! *MUAH*

4) Spicy foods, salty foods and caffeine can all dry your lips out!  I drink coffee and I douse a lot of my food with hot sauce. Am I going to stop doing this entirely. Nope- not a chance! However, knowing that my Starbucks and Crystal’s Louisiana Hot Sauce can be contributing factors to my lips screeching with pain when I eat…. I’ll be at least reducing my intake for a while.

And there you have it! 4 quick and easy tips to take care of your beautiful lips while Old Man Winter has in sight for a few more months!

Yo! Happy Valentine’s Day…….

Although some people can’t stand February 14th…. I LOVE  Valentine’s Day!!

In full disclosure… it’s one of my favorite holidays. I think I just love to celebrate Love in whatever form that may take. And for some reason I LOVE all the pink and red stuff that’s everywhere.

Anyway, there’s no reason not to have FUN today….go out with your best friend, or significant other. Go to one of those anti- Valentines party. Heck go to the shooting range and do target practice on a picture of cupid! Whatever will light you up … have fun with this day full of LOVE.

You don’t’ have to buy into the idea of needing chocolates and flowers and fancy dinners (although they can be very nice to receive!)… switch your perspective and see it as a day to celebrate all the LOVE that’s already in your Life. What if that was what Valentines Day turned into… a day to look for all the ways LOVE is already here for you! Or maybe it totally turned into a day of Self-Love.

Every week I do distance Reiki sessions for a women’s group  called “Beauty, Balance and Badassery” and last Sunday we came up with a huge list of ways you can show Self-Love…which was perfect for this week! The list included; taking an Epsom salt bath, doing some restorative yoga, going to get your nails done, or going to a get a massage. Which those are wonderfully straightforward. But then the amazing Ladies in the group came up with some ideas of Self-Love that were pretty creative; buy yourself the more expensive coffee or tea, take the time to listen to your favorite podcast, invest in some nice new makeup or skincare (which I LOVE that idea!),  up the amount on your monthly savings or investments, clean out your wallet or purse, sleep until you wake up on your own without an alarm clock or invest in some nice sheets or pillows. It was an awesome list of ideas to show your self some Love.

So whatever you plan on doing today….see if you can look for the ways Love is already here in your Life or take few of the ideas listed above and make this a day for you!

I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day this year..however you’re going to celebrate it!

The Quick Guide to removing Halloween Make-up

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!! This is one of my favorite holidays and I hope everyone has a safe and fun time tonight trick or treating! If you’re planning on dressing up and putting on some Halloween Make-up check out these super quick tips for removing it later on after you get home.

1. This probably seems obvious…but I’m gonna say it anyway… YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR HALLOWEEN MAKE-UP OFF… do not go to bed with it on. Otherwise, let’s just plan next week on seeing the coming attraction called “Zit Pit City”….starring the girl who slept in her costume make-up. Your skin needs to be able to breathe and recover from your take on being a Walking Dead Zombie.

2. When it’s time to retire for the night… try taking off most of the make-up with a gentle cleanser and warm water. This will probably not get everything off…but you want to start here and then move on to an oil-based product.  Grab your coconut oil or another oil based cleanser and start applying a little bit at a time to get things moving. You might need a soft wash cloth or hand towel to remove everything.

3. Whatever you do… DO NOT scrub your face as if you need the process done in 20 seconds. It probably took a while to put the makeup on… so give it a while to come off. Be gentle with your skin.

4. If you have a Night Cream you love…make sure to apply it to help with the recovery process! If you don’t, make sure you do use some sort of moisturizer that will be nourishing to your skin.

5. Plan on giving your skin some extra TLC tomorrow and the next day. It might be a little dry or irritated and it would be the perfect time for a DIY Facial.

July’s Amazing Offer to join Apriori Beauty!

For the month of July Apriori Beauty is offering a wonderful opportunity to join the company as a new consultant.

For each new consultant that registers and adds a Full Sized Celloxylin Set or an All-In-One Set to their first order; the $79 Starter Kit fee will be dropped to $49 AND you get free shipping. And the other awesome part of this is that the following week you’ll receive your Consultant Commission on the products you ordered and you actually end up getting back your $49 fee (plus a little extra). So this means… that when you register as a new consultant and place your order with one of the two sets…. all new consultants are pretty much getting to start their business for free this month! Which is amazing.

If you’re not sure if becoming a consultant is right for you consider some of the following perks:

  • There is convenient online ordering 24/7|365
  • There are always 20% savings on monthly specials and Autoship offers
  • Consultants receive 20-30% rebate on personal purchases and 20-30% commission on Client purchases — which are paid weekly
  • You receive your own Consultant website — free with registration. Which means you can have clients from all across the country place orders through your site.
  • You gain access to the Consultant Back Office — which includes training, tools, reports, resources, information, community and more to support your business-building efforts
  • There is no monthly minimum order requirement and you don’t have to take on any backstock (unless you choose too).
  • You remain an “Active Consultant” when you reach $150 in total sales once every 3 months (which is SUPER easy). Total sales includes what you order for yourself and what your clients order and it only needs to be $150 between everyone.
  • When you purchase one of the two sets mentioned above you are automatically considered active because you met the $150 sales total.  Each one of the sets is something that all Apriori Consultants can use for either their personal products or to use as business tools to sample their clients and showcase the product lines we offer.
  • Consultants also get to be part of the Apriori Beauty community and can feel 100% confident in the integrity of the business itself.

Lookin Good Girl …. 4 Step Facial

This week’s post is how to create an at home facial using your favorite Apriori products. While I am a big fan of going to your favorite Esthetician to get a treatment… in between sessions you can easily create a special treat for yourself. This 4 step system could easily be done Sunday night while you’re savoring the last bit of your weekend.

Step 1: Gently cleanse your face with the Creme Cleanse; applying a light pressure to your face with your fingertips. Take a dime sized amount, add water and apply to your face that has been splashed with warm water. With your fingers go up and around your eyes, under you cheekbones and make small circles on your forehead. Once it appears that you skin has been thoroughly cleansed, use warm water or a warm wash cloth to gently remove any remaining cleanser.

Creme Cleanse Facial

Step 2: Next Exfoliate your beautiful face with Apriori’s Acid Peel. Using the highest active levels possible without a prescription, the Acid Peel uses Glycolic and Lactic Acids to provide a deep exfoliation for your beautiful face. It can be applied with your fingers and then removed with a gentle rolling action once it has set up a bit (or it can be gently removed with lukewarm water)

Acid Peel Facial

Step 3: Just like your favorite skincare specialist applies a treatment mask after she has exfoliated your skin, you can do the same with a light application of the Firming Complex. This nutrient rich serum is lightweight and absorbs quickly into the skin; providing excellent collagen and elastin support. And because you’ve just exfoliated away old dead skin cells with the Acid Peel, the Firming Complex will be even more readily absorbed!

Firming Complex Facial

Step 4: The last step for your Sunday night Self-Care Facial is a light application of the Night Repair 3-Deep Night Cream. This cream is formulated to help with the natural water loss we experience overnight; helping retain moisture in your skin so you wake up looking refreshed. A few pumps and you can gently massage the night cream over your entire face, neck and décolleté ( in this case… your upper chest, just below your neck)

Night Repair Facial

And there you have a 4 Step Facial that can easily be incorporated into your Sunday Night routine that will have you lookin’ good for the upcoming week.

Hey Don’t Forget About Us!!!!

Yesterday evening while I was going through my nightly beauty routine I realized I had extra Firming Complex left over from applying it to my face. At the same time that awesome song by Simple Minds; Don’t You Forget About Me popped into my head.  I then started applying the extra Firming Complex to the back of my hands. Now, it’s not unusual for song lyrics to pop into my head… this happens on a pretty regular basis… but this time.. it made me stop and think “Hey, I should write about this!”

Any time you have left over products for your face- stop and think about what other areas could benefit from a little TLC. Maybe it’s your neck or your chest or like the other night I put highly concentrated nutrients on the back of my hands. The neck, chest, shoulders, arms and hands are all areas that benefit from skincare products. These areas are often missed in our daily skincare regiment but can be some of the first places you start to see signs of aging and sun damage!

If you’re taking care of your beautiful face and have some left over serum or moisturizer… go ahead and use it up! Anywhere you might be showing some skin in your favorite party dress or go-to warm weather top- think about spreading the love and your skincare routine to that area.
