Skincare….. Summer Skin Routine

So now that we’re officially into the heart of summer there’s a possibility that your skin is responding differently to the warmer weather.

Higher temperatures, higher humidity, increased time out in the lovely sunshine… your skin might be in need of a different routine from 3 or 4 months ago.

Quick Tips for summer skincare:

  • Add some Rose Water into your daily routine and keep it in the fridge for a refreshing splash after you’ve been out in the sun! Rose water has anti-inflammatory and skin soothing properties plus it smells amazing! (I spray it in my hair too!)
  • Turn down the heat in the shower! Just like during the cold winter months… hot water can continue to dry out your skin in the summertime.
  • Up your water intake to stay hydrated! Dehydration does contribute to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles so keep on drinking that H2O.
  • If need be, reduce the amount of moisturizer you’re using. You may have to play around with this one to find the right amount… but if you’re skin is not as dry in the summer or your skin is appearing more oily…. try lightening up on how much product you’re using.
  • Keep up with Exfoliation…. if you’re out in the sun “glistening” more (ie. sweating) or slathering on sun screen… remember to exfoliate to keep your pores free of gunky build up.

Apriori's Enzyme Activated Micro Scrub is an awesome way to get a full body exfoliation.

While you’re laying out by the pool, or sitting by the surf or taking a cruise down Crocodile Mile… think about what your skin might be needing with the warmer weather. And as always if you’re in need of some personalized, individual insight… you can email me at eastcoast.beauty at hotmail.com or message me on the Lookin Good Girl Facebook page…. just scroll down on the right hand side of our home page and click “Like” on the Facebook tab.

Skincare……. Apriori’s Best Buys for Treatment Products

Continuing with Money Cash Month and keeping you, your skin and your wallet lookin’ good… this week’s post is on Apriori’s Best Buys for Treatment products….according to me.

I use both of these products on a weekly basis and they were chosen based on how many uses you get out of each container. As a treatment product in your skincare regiment you won’t be using these items every day but probably more like 1-2 times a week. (Or maybe 3-4 like I use my beloved Sugar Scrub).

First item up… The Enzyme Activated Micro Scrub.

Why it’s a Best Buy:

  • It’s absolutely amazing and gives your skin a healthy glow!
  • It does a knock-out job of gently removing dead skin cells via Sugar Beet Crystals and Papaya derived Enzymes
  • It’s NURDLE FREE !!
  • It can last any where from 3-5 months! Divide $38 by 3 or divide $38 by 5 and you’ve got yourself a Best Buy, baby!!!!

A full scrub lasts me about 4 months but I use it frequently because I know my skin will be okay with that much use.

Get your Glow On Girl.

Best Buy number #2… but not because it comes in second place… The 20Ex Acid Peel.

Yes, the name sounds a little intimidating. BUT the only thing that should be shaking in its boots is the dry, dull skincells that will be turbo blasted away by the Acid Peel! Or I guess more like turbo peeled away.. but you get the idea.

Why It’s a Best Buy:

  • Contains pharmaceutical grade ingredients that provide immediate and long term results.
  • When it comes to exfoliation… It’s kickin’ butt and taking names and making your skin look radiant in the process.
  • There are between 20-25 uses in each tube… so divide $55 by 25 and what do you get… A BEST BUY!! (whoop whoop)
There are some peeps who need to be mindful of the Acid Peel ….Pregnant Women and people using Retin-A or Retinol are advised to not use the Acid Peel and you need to use daily sun protection when using it.. but otherwise it’s an at home treatment product that will leave you wondering why you didn’t start using it sooner!

Oh.. Acid Peel.. where have you been all my Life????

In case you haven’t added a treatment product to your skincare routine or are in the market for new ones… these are two amazing products which will keep your beautiful face and your Beauty budget… Lookin’ Good!

Both products can be found by clicking here: 20EX Acid Peel  and Enzyme Activated Micro Scrub

Skincare In A Flash….. It’s not your Typical Toner….

This week’s Skincare In A Flash is all about Apriori’s Activating Tonic… which is not anything like your typical toner.

What is it:  The Activating Tonic is a cooling “splash” that is used after you have cleansed your face.

Benefits: It removes the last traces of impurities and has antiseptic, astringent and anti-inflammatory properties. It also protects your skin’s natural acid mantle (See: Acid Mantle )

Toner vs Activating Tonic: Your typical toner is designed to close pores (to reduce their appearance), the Activating Tonic on the other hand is specifically designed to open your pores so they can readily absorb the ingredients of the next product used (like your Day Defense Moisturizer or Precision Skin Rejuvenator).

Other cool info:

  • It contains a mushroom extract which helps your skin absorb and hold on to moisture.
  • Since it helps your skin absorb more of your moisturizers and serums …. you can effectively use less of those products and still have optimal results (which means you’re saving moola by not using an excessive amount of the product each day)

Check out the FAQ section on the product page for additional information

Skincare in a Flash….Nurdles

A post to provide you information in a quickly absorbed manner. Kind of like flashcards for skincare.

This week it’s all about the Nurdles, baby! They’re probably something you’ve never heard of but may have used on many occasions!

What are they: “Nurdles are the tiny bits of plastic that are melted down and used in the production of plastic bags, bubble wrap, packaging and wrapping material. They can be responsible for the sickness and death of fish and birds when they are mistaken for food” – EPA.gov

What does this have to do with skincare: Nurdles are also found in beauty products (face scrubs, body washes) and usually come with the unassuming, non-threatening title of “gentle microbeads”.

Coming Attraction: Look for next week’s post featuring a special guest who knows first hand why Nurdles should be making a mass exodus from your skincare regiment.

Nurdle-Free Alternatives by Apriori Beauty: Celloxylin® Cellular Age Advantage Body Cleanse & Lotion & the Enzyme Activated Micro Scrub

** If you’re interested in going Nurdle free in TwentyThirteen and want to order these products… please make sure to sign up by registering Here!

This will ensure you get direct access to Apriori Beauty’s product line and excellent customer service.

Skincare In A Flash……… DFI Functions

A post to provide you information in a quickly absorbed manner. Kind of like flashcards for skincare.

This is a quick post taken from the Apriori website regarding the two functions of the Derma Firm Illuminator.

The Derma Firm Illuminator utilizes four advanced anti-aging technologies — Ultrasound Wave, Galvanic Ion, Far Infrared Light, and Micro Massage — to visibly improve skin’s appearance.

During the Spot treatment cycles, galvanic ion and ultrasound wave therapy help stimulate cleansing and healthy skin cell turnover to help reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, age spots, and blemishes. You will experience a gentle vibration and feel a warming of the skin

During the Wrinkle treatment cycles, far infrared light and micro massage work to address fine lines and wrinkles by promoting collagen and elastin synthesis, increasing cellular metabolism, and improving muscle tone. You will feel a more intense vibration from the micro massage, and the far infrared light will come on half way through each of the 3 cycles.”  (Source: Apriori Beauty Science Center Article Archive, April 2012)

Skincare In A Flash……..Peptides

A post to provide you information in a quickly absorbed manner. Kind of like flashcards for skincare.

This week’s flashcard is for Peptides

What are they? Short sequences of amino acids linked together by peptide bonds. (Holy scientific terminology, Batman!)

In layman’s terms, please: They’re essentially naturally occurring chemical messengers that tell the skin to conduct various functions.

Why should I care? In regards to skincare; different peptides can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve the production of collagen.

Give me an example: Acetyl Octapeptide-3  & Avena Sativa (Oat) Peptide    (Avena Sativa… that’s a pretty name for a pretty ingredient!)

Where can I find them? You can find peptides in a number of Apriori’s skincare products including the Day Defense Plus, Night Repair 3-Deep and Firming Complex

You can find Peptides in Apriori's Firming Complex - a beautiful serum to have in your skincare routine.
